Web 2.0
Web 2.0 was technically defined as “The business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as platform.” Web 2.0 is now more often used to describe a new generation of web-based services that allow people to interact, collaborate and share information. Probably the biggest advantage of web 2.0 versus traditional world wide web is greater collaboration amongst users, content providers, and enterprises. This is helped to be achieved by the use of blogging which in my opinion is becoming one of the most popular uses of the internet and is widely regarded as something fun, interesting and new to do online to many. Every day emerging blogging websites are attracting thousands and thousands of users helped by the developments in web 2.0. So one might ask how do we define a site to be web 2.0? Well some of the elements that do help define a site in web 2.0 are mash-ups, real-time data feeds, tagging, user generated content and resource sharing. I think that many see web 2.0 as a platform for interacting with websites and the net rather than just seeing what is on the page. Hence the design of each website is vital. It is important for the website to be well layed out and professional but at the same time user friendly. It is me, you and every other person who uses the website that will make the website successful or a failure. With the emergence of all the new website developed in web 2.0 only the strongest will survive.
eRetail
So, first question, what is eRetailing?. Well eRetailing is rapidly becoming the most popular method of buying and selling in the world. One could define eRetailing as utilizing the internet as a sales channel. The internet has opened doors for people to buy and sell worldwide instantly without having to leave their home. One of the most successful examples of eRetailing is the company Amazon whom now is one of the most recognized companies in the world and renowned for its effortless buying and selling online. (www.amazon.com) . The link provided shows just how easy it is nowadays to buy practically anything online without having to go searching shop after shop. So what sells on the internet?Clothes?Cars?...Well in fact everything does but the most popular category of sales on the internet is computer hardware! Closely followed is event and movie tickets followed by automobiles. Not surprisingly computer hardware is the most popular seller. Every day improvements to hardware and new hardware being created means the hardware is sought after and where better to find the new hardware than online. eRetailing also provides opportunities for jobs. With a global market it is important for an eRetailing company to have the most elite staff to ensure utmost success. This in turn means jobs for the person with an eRetailing brain which returns substantial revenue. There is no doubt eRetailing is taking over the retailing world.
